unbought games

Terms of service

Effective October 20, 2026. Version: 2026-10-20-beta-1.

The service

Unbought Games LLC operates the official services at unbought.games, accounts.unbought.games and orbitimperium.com. These terms govern use of our hosted services. The privacy notice explains how we handle personal information, and the conduct rules explain fair play and moderation.

Questions or requests may be sent to ethan@unbought.games.

Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use the official hosted services. When registration is available, anyone who meets these eligibility requirements and agrees to these terms and the conduct rules may join the starting beta; no invitation is required.

Use an email address and sign-in methods you control. Keep passwords, login links and recovery codes private. Do not sell, transfer or share access to an account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account. Staff will not ask for your password or MFA recovery codes.

Use one player account per universe unless we expressly authorize a separate testing account. You may participate in different universes through the same shared account. Do not use extra identities to evade restrictions, obtain unfair advantages or manipulate another account's progress.

Fair competition

Progress and outcomes must depend on play, not purchased gameplay advantages. This beta has no gameplay purchases. Any future optional purchase will have its own clear description and terms before you buy it.

Do not use prohibited automation, credential sharing, exploits, unauthorized access, deliberate service disruption, real-money trades of gameplay advantages, or coordinated account abuse. Do not threaten, harass, impersonate, dox or discriminate against other people. Follow the published conduct rules and any clearly identified game-specific restrictions.

Raiding, competitive losses and other permitted game actions are part of the game. A loss by itself is not evidence of misconduct. Report suspected cheating privately with enough information for us to investigate; do not publish another person's private information.

Your content and game records

You retain any rights you have in content you submit. You give us permission to host, copy, display and moderate that content as needed to operate the service and its shared game world. This permission does not give us ownership of your work or permission to use private messages as advertising.

Choose usernames and submit content you are entitled to use. We may remove unlawful or rule-breaking content and restrict its distribution. Other players may see usernames, alliance information and gameplay records according to the game's visibility rules.

Game events affect other players. Closing an account may therefore require limiting or removing personal identifiers while retaining game records that are necessary to operate the world, investigate abuse or meet legal requirements, as explained in the privacy notice.

Beta operation and changes

The beta may contain bugs, incomplete features or interruptions. We may correct errors, recover from incidents or change the service. We will communicate material planned changes through the service or its official community channels when practical. Emergency action may be necessary to protect players or data.

This is an open starting beta, and the game is incomplete. More content and features may arrive later. We reserve the right to reset the universe before the full public launch, which may remove gameplay progress. We will announce planned resets or transitions in advance when practical; emergency recovery may also lose recent progress.

We do not promise uninterrupted availability or recovery of every lost game action. Nothing in these terms removes rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.

Support is provided on a best-effort basis. We aim to respond to support requests within 24 hours, but this is a target, not a guaranteed response time or service-level agreement. Game response and performance targets are also best effort.

Restrictions and appeals

We may warn, restrict, suspend or close accounts when reasonably necessary to address a rule violation, abuse, a security incident or a legal obligation. We may act immediately during a serious incident. Where practical, we will explain the rule and the action without revealing another person's private information or details that would undermine security.

You may appeal through the contact in the conduct rules. A human will review moderation appeals, including relevant new evidence. Shared networks or a single automated signal should not by themselves establish that two people are the same player.

You may stop using the service and request account closure. Requests to access, correct or delete personal information are handled under the privacy notice, independently of moderation appeals.

Open source and independent hosting

Published software and assets remain governed by their applicable licenses. These hosted-service terms do not remove rights granted by those licenses, including the right to run a permitted independent installation. Brand and trademark permissions are separate from software licenses. Independent hosts have their own operators, policies and account systems; they are not operated by Unbought Games LLC unless we explicitly say so.

Testing your own installation is different from testing the official service. Report official-service vulnerabilities privately and do not access other players' data, disrupt service or continue an exploit to demonstrate its impact without permission.

Changes to these terms

We will publish the effective date and version of adopted terms. Material changes will be brought to users' attention, with renewed acknowledgment where appropriate or required. We will not silently treat agreement to an old placeholder as acceptance of a later substantive policy.
