Fair play and community rules

Effective October 20, 2026. Version: 2026-10-20-beta-1.

These rules apply to official hosted worlds and the official community. Independent hosts set their own rules.

Compete through play

Raiding, fleet saving, espionage and other permitted competitive actions are part of the game. Strong opponents, repeated legal attacks and losing resources are not automatically harassment or cheating. There are no purchased gameplay advantages.

Use one player account per universe unless staff expressly authorizes a test account. Do not share control of an account, use extra accounts to transfer benefits, evade a suspension or manipulate rankings. Do not trade gameplay advantages for real money.

Built-in game features and equally available, published approved tools are permitted, including their documented automation. The operator will publish any approved third-party tools and their limits alongside these rules. Outside those permissions, do not use bots or scripts to automate gameplay decisions or actions, bypass normal limits, inspect information you are not entitled to see, or exploit a defect. Accessibility tools that do not make gameplay decisions or bypass limits should not be treated as cheating solely because they assist input or presentation. Ask the operator privately if a tool's effect is unclear; the answer should be published consistently for all players where practical.

If you discover a vulnerability, stop exploiting it and report it privately. Include steps to reproduce it on your own account or test installation without taking another player's data. Do not continue exploiting the live service to prove the impact.

Treat people with respect

Do not threaten, dox, stalk, impersonate or target people with hateful or discriminatory abuse. Do not publish private account information, sexual exploitation material or unlawful content. Keep scams, malicious links and spam out of the service. Do not turn an in-game conflict into harassment across other services.

Use usernames, alliance names and messages that comply with these rules. Criticism and disagreement are allowed; targeted abuse and threats are not.

Report privately

Send reports to ethan@unbought.games with the game/universe, relevant usernames, approximate time and timezone, a concise description and any screenshots or report identifiers you already have. Include only information needed for the report. Never include passwords, login links, recovery codes or another person's unnecessary personal details. For an urgent real-world emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service.

Do not post public accusations or ask others to retaliate. We aim to respond within 24 hours on a best-effort basis. This is not a guaranteed response time or service-level agreement, and we cannot promise a particular outcome. Reports will be reviewed and their handling recorded.

Enforcement and appeals

Staff may investigate game records and proportionate security evidence, remove content, warn players, restrict actions or suspend accounts. Serious exploitation or threats may require immediate restrictions. Shared IP addresses alone do not establish that players are the same person.

Where practical, we explain the rule and action without exposing private evidence or detection methods. Appeal to the same contact, identifying the account/action, why you believe it was mistaken and any new evidence. Appeals receive human review; use another reviewer where one is available. An appeal does not automatically lift a restriction. Privacy requests are handled separately and are not conditional on withdrawing an appeal.

Changes to these rules will be published with a date. Staff should not invent new gameplay restrictions retroactively to change the outcome of a legitimate conflict.
